Despite the Blues running in tries at regular intervals and playing some excellent and exciting running rugby, the visitors never gave up and contributed to the fine fare served up to the bumper Boxing Day crowd who enjoyed the break in the recent appalling weather to blow away the cobwebs from the previous days excesses!
The Bert White Shield is played for annually on Boxing Day in memory of Bert White who was a president at both clubs. Next seasons fixture will be hosted by Rushden & Higham as the clubs alternate the home venue each season. With the rugby that was on display yesterday, the White family can be confident that the game is being played in the spirit to which Bert would have wanted and the future of both clubs is in safe hands.
